Sailboat (帆船)

The sailboat or sailing yacht (S/Y, SY) described on this website is of a type called Fellowship 28. Fellowship is the designation of the type selected by the boatbuilder, and 28 describes the length of the vessel in feet. She is constructed as a masthead sloop as far as her rig is concerned.

This sailboat is a pleasure craft built near Hilversum, a city the Netherlands, the country where sailing developed into a sport some four centuries ago.

As we did not discover much information on the internet about this type of sailboat, we decided to record what we are finding out about the boat while we are slowly acquainting ourselves with her -- and share this information with anyone interested.

The Fellowship 28 is a seagoing vessel with a calculated hull speed (displacement speed) of 6.7 knots (based on her length at waterline). She is also quite suitable for inland waterways due to her comparably small draft. She is equipped with berths for a crew of 5 persons. These aspects were important for us when selecting the boat: We can use the vessel flexibly for day cruising in the vicinity with family and friends in more shallow waters. Alternatively, we can go further, via the Oder river, to enjoy the breeze of the Baltic Sea, for example.

There are two anchors (锚). The main anchor is a fluke-type (Heuss special) and the auxiliary is a folding grapnel anchor.
